The Fontcoberta Living Nativity 2026 is a real reference to the Plan of the Pond with more than 50 years of history. The Experience: Half a century of tradition
Born in 1976 thanks to the initiative of the rector at the time and the catechesis children, this event has grown to become a great tour of1 km through the old town and the natural environment. Currently, it has between thirty and forty scenes that mix the format of a static traditional nativity scene with completely theatrical scenes.
Times and performance dates
- Key dates: Historically, it is customary to celebrate the weekend immediately after Christmas (approx December 27 and 28, 2026).
- Pass system: The event is organized in specific time slots to regulate visitor numbers. The usual sessions are at 18:30 h and at 19:00 h.
Maximum punctuality is recommended, as the action is collected at a pace adjusted to the timetable of the passes established

How to get there and key geographic distinction
- Where exactly is it done: The nativity scene takes place in the historic center of Fontcoberta (the "village old"). You have to be careful with the GPS so you don't get confused with the Melianta development (the main urban centre).
- Where to Park: Historically, parking has been one of the biggest logistical challenges in the old town, limiting capacity on peak days. Arrive well in advance to park in the areas designated by the organisation.
Where to eat: From Fontcoberta to Melianta
At the end of the tour, the organization will offer you a comforter soup tasting hot. When looking for a restaurant to sit down for a meal, you should know that in Fontcoberta’s historic centre there are no restaurants.
Shops and services are concentrated in Melianta (a few minutes away by car). There you will find excellent options and local grilled cuisine, being practically mandatory book well in advance these holidays:
- Bar Restaurant La Brasa: An extremely popular and well-rated venue specializing in brasa, located on the main Melianta road (GIP-5121, 27).
- Bar Restaurant Ca L'Àngel: Another ideal bet for lovers of traditional cuisine and homemade in a lifelong atmosphere. Also located on the main Melianta road (GIP-5121, 25).
*Practical note: The two restaurants are on the same main road, just a few meters away from each other, making it very convenient to look for an alternative if one is full.
