Guide to Living Nativity Scenes in Catalonia

2026-2027 season

Sant Pere de Ribes Living Nativity 2026

The Living Nativity of Sant Pere de Ribes, organized by the entity The Xulius since 1989, is an extraordinary event with a unique format throughout the country. We present the guide practice to understand this performance of great dramatic intensity and prepare your visit to the Garraf.

The experience: The only traveling living nativity scene of Catalonia

The most distinctive feature of this Christmas landmark is its own roaming. Every year, the nativity scene radically changes its location, choosing a different place from the municipal area (either a farmhouse historical site, some fields or a forest in the area). This characteristic forces us to reinvent the texts and the scenography in each campaign, making the experience always unique.

On an artistic level, it is a montage spoken and in motion. Count on participation of around 120 actors who bring biblical scenes to life with impeccable staging. The route through chosen natural site has a duration of approximately 90 minutes.

Traditional dates and staggered booking

The rhythm of the show requires a very precise control of the visitors. These are the logistics data that you should consider:

  • Performance dates: Historically, the opening calendar focuses on the main festive dates, programming representations the December 25, 26, 27 and 28.
  • Passes and punctuality: Access is structured in staggered sessions every 30 minutes (usually from 18:00 h or 18:30 h depending on the day). Please arrive on time, as access is not guaranteed once the guided tour has started.

Online tickets and footwear advice

Because it moves through rural areas and the high regional demand, the organization applies strict access measures to guarantee comfort and safety:

  • Exclusive Sale: The acquisition of the tickets is done exclusively online (the sale usually opens towards the end of November).
  • Clothing: When dealing with dirt roads and wooded areas, it is highly recommended to wear appropriate footwear and very warm clothing. The organization may not guarantee full accessibility for prams or wheelchairs depending on the location used that year.
  • Rain and "Row 0": The entity has cancellation protocols stipulated for rain. In seasons where bad weather has prevented opening, the organisers have opened solidarity donation channels (Row 0) to help cover the costs of staging the event.

Gastronomy: Where to dine in the center of Ribes

As the living nativity changes location, a practical option afterwards is to head towards the centre of Sant Pere de Ribes, around Plaça Marcer and Carrer Major, for a meal before returning home. There are several excellent choices:

  • La Taperia de la Croqueta (Carrer de Salvador Dalí): The ideal option to enjoy some good tapas, delicious portions and, of course, fantastic croquettes in a very close atmosphere and friendly
  • El Secreto de Ribes (Carrer Nou): An exquisitely treated restaurant where you can taste good ones meats and very well-worked cuisine to top off the nativity night.
  • Caburé Gastrobar (Carrer del Pi): A slightly more elaborate and modern proposal. great product quality and impeccable presentation to sit back and enjoy.
