Vila-sacra (Alt Empordà) Living Nativity

Attention visitors: The Living Nativity in Vila-sacra has recently been affected by organisational pauses and severe weather that have forced its cancellation. Currently, the status of the representations is found pending confirmation. We keep this page as a reference of the town's great tradition and we will update it in the event of an official resumption.

The tradition: The Abbot's Palace and the Armats

With more than a decade of history behind it, the representation of Vila-sacra has always stood out for a privileged Romanesque setting. The route is framed by the arcades and stone walls of the Palau de l'Abat and the village church, which immediately transport the viewer back in time.

Two elements make this Empordà production very special. On the one hand, the props used in the scenes are not decorative replicas, but authentic utensils, tools and vegetables recovered from farmhouses and village fields. On the other, the powerful parade of Armats of Sant Esteve de Vila-sacra, which opens the living nativity scene with a spectacular march accompanied by more than 110 performers
